A tale from abroad sees an unusual case involving a man suing his ex-wife who became pregnant by using his frozen sperm without telling him.
The Emirati man is taking the action against his Russian ex-wife who became pregnant after being inseminated with his sperm and subsequently had a baby girl. The couple, who have not been named, were said to have desperately wanted a baby during their four-year marriage and had been for fertility treatment at a clinic in the United Arab Emirates, but this had been unsuccessful.
However, when they separated, the woman returned to Russia and had further treatment without telling him. This time it was successful and she was actually pregnant by the time the couple were divorced, though her ex-husband wasn’t aware of this.
Is the man right to claim this is deception or was the original decision correct in that they were married at the time of the incident and the man had also previously given consent for the treatment. Who’s right, you decide.
